I found this article from the New York Times very interesting. It is about the author and librarian, Jorge Luis Borges, envisioning the Internet long before its inception. Check it out.

More obstacles and stumblings on the way up the blog learning curve

...the continuing saga. Is there really something to the theory that one can be allergic to the computer? Or maybe it's that the computer is allergic to particular users,  and knows, like an animal, that these people can be tricked and trifled with. Is it an electrical signal that we emit (or don't emit) that is responsible, just as certain people can 't wear watches or bracelets because the metal content messes up their body-electricity? If there is such a thing, then I am afflicted. 

For example, mine was the only URL that my cheerleader could not access--it takes her to another blog! She emails me, requesting that I re-send it, and I see that the URL that she's pasted into the email, showing me what she'd used, is exactly right. 

Then my latest mess: yesterday I tried to sign into my blog, and Google tells me that I have the wrong email address in my user name field (again, there are NO typos or extra spaces at the beginging or end of the text string--this email address is the one I use every day at work; what is going on??. After a lot of time spent troubleshooting, I finally changed my password and was allowed access. Didn't change my email address in the user name field, yet now Google recognizes it. I have a feeling that the 2005 blog, The Amey Steere Library Blog, which I created in Blogger with a Google account (just like this time), and used my same email address in the user name field then, might still be tripping me up; I just don't know why. Hmm, perhaps I shoulda used Wordpress or Typepad to create my blog.

 While I was pleased that I solved the immediate problem of access (tangential though it was), I ran out of time, and I did not even get to the assignment (my goal for my work session). Isn't this supposed to be easy and fun? I know--I'm whining. But documenting the obstacles I encounter helps me to analyze it; it sounds like whining, but I'm actually processing! Thanks for bearing with me.

How do I copy from my other blog into this one?

An addendum to yesterday's entry regarding my inability to move text from one blog to another: I realized that I was  trying to do a basic copy-paste, without success. I wanted to copy an entry I'd posted on my old blog and paste it into this blog. Once you have posted something, can you edit it? It looks like you can (with the text showing at the bottom of my screen), but I was unable to actually paste it into the new blog. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for responses!

Thing 3. Take 2.

I have gone down the wrong path, so to speak, since Google recognized my user name from the blog I created in '05. So now I have created a new, second, blog. I am surprised to see the posting I did this morning on my '05 blog below (when I am in Compose), yet I cannot see it in the published format.

Thing 3. Got my avatar.

She's nothing like me, which is very liberating. A scooter in the library? Love it!
